PAINTING WITH LIGHT
METHODOLOGY.
For these pictures I went outside at night time with a tripod set-up and a torch. I had my camera on the ‘bulb’ setting so that it would hold the shutter open for as long as I held down the button, I also had a small aperture because I wanted only the light from the torch to be shown. I got my dad to draw pictures with the torch whilst I held the shutter open, because of the very slow shutter speed, the whole path of the light is shown in the photo. I also got my dad to stand in front of the torch and my auntie to draw around his figure to create a silhouette of a man. I intended to recreate the excitement of sparklers on fireworks night and drawing pictures in the sky and I think that my shoot was successful.
I can link these photographs to a child's fear of the dark so the light shines as its like an escapism from the darkness. I think that this will help me because it then links to my theme of nostalgia.
