PHOTOGRAMS
During this section, I used a transparent plastic overlay, which I had painted with black ink. I then let this ink dry to make the plastic overlays opaque and used an etching tool to scratch detailed pictures of women and insects into the ink so that the pattern which i scratched would become transparent again. I then used the magnifier in the dark room to expose sheets of photo paper beneath my etching. The way that i have scratched the plastic meant that the paper was only exposed through the areas that i had scratched. I experimented with combining stencils with my etchings or even more than one of my etchings on top of one another. With this I feel that I am pleased with the decorative outcome however to improve I could have been more adventurous with different thicknesses in ink or patterns in ink to create graduated tones.
